    Gegenüber dem Duomo, der Kathedrale aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, liegt das Museo Diocesano im ehemaligen Oratorium und der Kirche von Gesu. Anders als die eher enttäuschende Kathedrale, die entstellt wurde, ist das Diözesanmuseum eine Schatzkammer im Kleinformat. Zu sehen sind seltene Meisterwerke von Fra' Angelico, Lorenzetti und den Lokalmatadoren Luca Signorelli und Pietro da Cortona. Das Herzstück der Ausstellung ist Fra‘ Angelicos Verkündigung, eine leuchtende Darstellung des Botenengels, der um 1430 aus schimmerndem Blattgold geschaffen wurde. Luca Signorelli (1450-1523), einer von vielen berühmten Künstlern aus Cortona, wurde von seinem Meister Piero della Francesca inspiriert. Signorelli fertigte Fresken für die Kathedrale von Orvieto und wurde in den Vatikan berufen, um Fresken in der Sixtinischen Kapelle zu vervollständigen. Zu Signorellis Werken, die hier ausgestellt sind, gehört die ergreifende Beweinung Christi. Weitere Höhepunkte sind eine sienesische Madonna der Schule von Duccio Madonna, ein Pietro Lorenzetti Kruzifix aus dem 14. Jahrhundert und ein römischer Sarkophag, der Donatello inspirierte.
