    Opernfreunde dürfen es nicht versäumen, den Geburtsort von Luccas berühmtem Komponisten Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) zu besuchen. Dieser Star der Oper des 20. Jahrhunderts wurde in der örtlichen Kirche Santi Giovanni e Reparata getauft. Der Komponist ist untrennbar mit seiner Heimat Lucca verbunden und spielte sogar die Orgel in der Kathedrale von Lucca. Puccinis Geburtshaus, das neu gestaltete Casa Museo Puccini, ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für jede Puccini-Tour und war der Ort, an dem er seine glückliche Kindheit und sein frühes Erwachsenenalter verbrachte. Das Haus blieb im Besitz der Familie Puccini, bis es 1974 an die Puccini-Stiftung ging. Der Speisesaal mit dem Kamin aus Carrara-Marmor vermittelt einen Eindruck vom Leben der Mittelschicht Luccas. Das Musikzimmer ist das Zentrum von Puccinis Welt, mit dem Steinway-Klavier, auf dem er Turandot komponierte. Für eine vollständige Puccini-Tour fahren Sie in Richtung Westen nach Torre del Lago, am Ufer des Massaciuccoli-Sees, und dann nach Viareggio sowie nach Montecatini Terme, einem weiteren wichtigen Ort in Puccinis Leben.
