    Am Ende des mittelalterlichen Gassenlabyrinths von Lucca thront der Palazzo Mansi, ein Kaufmannshaus aus dem 16. Jahrhundert mit barockem Interieur. Es ist mit einem Großteil der ursprünglichen Einrichtung ausgestattet und beherbergt heute das Museo e Pinacoteca Nazionale. Gottheiten und allegorische Gestalten tummeln sich an den Decken des prächtig eingerichteten Hauses des Kardinals Spada (1659-1724) aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Im Obergeschoss, am Ende einer Reihe von Räumen, die eine Dekoration zum Thema der Vier Elemente aufweisen, befindet sich ein prächtiger Schlafraum, der dem Element des Feuers gewidmet ist. Dieses Feuer ist kein zerstörerisches Feuer, sondern die Flamme, die brennt, wenn Eros mit seinem Pfeil trifft. Das Zimmer verfügt über ein wunderschönes Doppelbett, dessen hübsche Behänge mit Vögeln und Blumen geschmückt sind. Die Pinacoteca (Bildergalerie) zeigt Werke toskanischer, venezianischer und flämischer Meister.
