Here in the southernmost corner of the region you can discover Tuscany’s wilder side, especially on the province’s untamed shores, the perfect place to snorkel amid the rocks and picnic in the fragrant shade of the pine forests. The beaches around Talamone are less than half an hour from your door by car, but there is much to explore inland, too. Wander the streets of ancient Etruscan villages such as Sorano and Sovano, wallow in the hot thermal springs at Saturnia, and, of course, taste the fruity wines produced at local vineyards.

The territory you could cover during your time here can be spied from your generous garden at Ulivi – take a seat on one of the benches at the edge of the lawn and you can see the Mediterranean shimmering in the distance. It’s a captivating view and one that you will no doubt linger on as much of your time will be spent relaxing on the shaded terrace that wraps around this one-storey Tuscan red cottage.

Inside, there’s space for eight to stay in four en-suite bedrooms. There are three doubles and one twin; the master bedroom is more of a suite, with a seamless flow between a bedroom and living area.
